WEEK 16: STEWARDSHIP, INNOVATION AND NATIONAL PROSPERITY
Day 107 (15 September 2026)
Theme: Faithful Stewardship of People, Resources and Opportunity:
Praying for South Africa to develop a culture of faithful and responsible stewardship in which people, resources, land, finances, infrastructure, knowledge, skills, opportunities, and institutions are managed with wisdom, diligence, integrity, and accountability. Praying for those entrusted with responsibility at every level of society to recognise that stewardship requires more than possession; it requires faithful management, development, protection, and purposeful use. Asking God to raise trustworthy stewards who will use what has been entrusted to them to create value, strengthen communities, expand opportunity, and serve the common good
*All scriptures (unless otherwise stated) are from New King James Version (NKJV)
Action item 1: Raise faithful stewards who can be trusted with responsibility.
1 Corinthians 4:2 “Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful.”
Luke 12:42-44 “And the Lord said, ‘Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his master will make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of food in due season? 43Blessed is that servant whom his master will find so doing when he comes. 44Truly, I say to you that he will make him ruler over all that he has.’”
Proverbs 28:20 “A faithful man will abound with blessings, but he who hastens to be rich will not go unpunished
- Father, in the mighty name of Jesus, raise faithful stewards throughout South Africa who can be trusted with responsibility. Establish integrity, diligence, honesty, accountability, and faithfulness within those entrusted with resources, authority, finances, institutions, businesses, land, knowledge, and opportunities. May those who carry responsibility understand that they are ultimately accountable to You for how they manage what has been placed in their hands. Deliver us from negligence, corruption, self-interest, and the misuse of entrusted resources. Raise people whose character can sustain the responsibility You give them and who will faithfully manage both little and much. In Jesus’ name, Amen
Action item 2: Develop and multiply what God has entrusted.
Matthew 25:14-30 “14For the kingdom of heaven is like a man traveling to a far country, who called his own servants and delivered his goods to them.15And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each according to his own ability; and immediately he went on a journey. 16Then he who had received the five talents went and traded with them, and made another five talents. 17And likewise he who had received two gained two more also. 18But he who had received one went and dug in the ground, and hid his lord’s money. 19After a long time the lord of those servants came and settled accounts with them…”
Genesis 2:15 “Then the LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it.”
Proverbs 12:11 “He who tills his land will be satisfied with bread, but he who follows frivolity is devoid of understanding.”
- Father, in the mighty name of Jesus, teach South Africa to develop and multiply what You have entrusted to her. Give wisdom to those responsible for the nation’s land, resources, infrastructure, institutions, businesses, technology, knowledge, and human potential. Deliver us from waste, underdevelopment, neglect, and the failure to recognise and cultivate what You have placed within our reach. Awaken diligence and productive capacity throughout the nation. Let skills be developed, resources be wisely managed, ideas be cultivated, and opportunities be multiplied. May what has been entrusted to South Africa produce meaningful value, strengthen communities, and create opportunities for generations to come. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Action item 3: Steward opportunity for the common good.
1 Peter 4:10 “As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.”
Philippians 2:3-4 “Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. 4Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.”
1 Timothy 6:17-19 “Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy. 18Let them do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share, 19storing up for themselves a good foundation for the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.”
- Father, in the mighty name of Jesus, teach us to steward opportunity with the common good in mind. Where You have given resources, give us generosity. Where You have given knowledge, teach us to share it. Where You have given skills, enable us to develop others. Where You have given influence, teach us to use it responsibly. Where You have given wealth and economic capacity, give us wisdom to employ it in ways that create opportunity and strengthen communities. Deliver South Africa from selfish accumulation, exploitation, and systems that prevent people from participating meaningfully in the nation’s prosperity. Establish a culture in which those who have been entrusted with much recognise their responsibility to strengthen others and contribute to the flourishing of society. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
