Joel 2:12-13 “Now, therefore,” says the Lord, “Turn to Me with all your heart, With fasting, with weeping, and with mourning.” So rend your heart, and not your garments; Return to the Lord your God, For He is gracious and merciful, Slow to anger, and of great kindness; And He relents from doing harm.” (Consecration through heartfelt repentance and returning to God)

I declare that no weapon formed against me or all that concerns me shall prosper because of these intercessory prayers, in Jesus’ Name (Isaiah 54:17).

WEEK 8: UNITY & SOCIAL COHESION
Day 52: (22 July 2026)
Healing Historical Wounds and Restoring Trust: Praying for the healing of historical trauma, broken relationships, and deep societal wounds, asking the Lord to restore trust, hope, forgiveness, and mutual understanding across every community.
Action item 1: Pray for healing from historical trauma and national brokenness
Isaiah 61:1-4 “The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me, because the LORD has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor; he has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; 2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn, 3 To console those who mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.” 4 And they shall rebuild the old ruins, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the ruined cities, the desolations of many generations.”
Psalm 147:3 “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”
Jeremiah 30:17 “’For I will restore health to you and heal you of your wounds,’ says the LORD, ‘Because they called you an outcast saying: “This is Zion; no one seeks her.’”
- Father, we ask You to heal the deep wounds of our past and restore every heart that has been broken by injustice, loss, and division. Comfort those who are grieving, heal the deep wounds of fear, resentment and bring beauty from the ashes, and restore hope where there has been despair. Rebuild what has been broken and renew families, communities, and trust throughout South Africa. Heal our people as we stand on Your Word, rooted in Your righteousness, bringing glory to Your name. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Action item 2: Pray for the restoration of trust and reconciliation
Ephesians 2:14-16 “For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation, 15having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace, 16and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity.”
2 Corinthians 5:18-20 “18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. 20 Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God.”
Matthew 5:9 “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.”
- Father, thank You that Jesus Christ is our peace, who has broken down every wall of division and reconciled us to You through the cross. We pray the ministry of reconciliation brings restoration and peace across South Africa. Heal the wounds of the past, soften hard hearts and remove every root of suspicion, fear, offence, bitterness, and division. Teach us, as ambassadors for Christ, to faithfully minister reconciliation, bringing healing wherever resentment and retaliation have taken root. May Your love bring healing as peace replaces turmoil. In the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.
Action item 3: Declare restoration, unity, and hope for future generations
Joel 2:25 “So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the crawling locust, the consuming locust, and the chewing locust, my great army which I sent among you.”
Isaiah 43:18-19 “Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. 19 Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”
Ezekiel 37:21-22 “Then say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD: ‘Surely I will take the children of Israel from among the nations, wherever they have gone, and will gather them from every side and bring them into their own land; 22 and I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king over them all; they shall no longer be two nations, nor shall they ever be divided into two kingdoms again.’”
- Father, we declare Your promise of restoration over our nation. Restore the years, the opportunities and the hope that has been lost. Heal what has been broken that South Africa will not be defined by the wounds of her past. We ask You to do a new work among us. Unite our people in Christ to walk in forgiveness, unity and hope so that future generations may continue to build upon a foundation of righteousness, justice and peace. We pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.
