Day 114 (22 September 2026)
Theme: Forming Mature Disciples – From Conversion to Christlikeness:
Praying for the Church in South Africa to recover a culture of intentional spiritual formation that produces mature, grounded, and Christlike disciples. Praying that believers will move beyond spiritual infancy into biblical maturity, becoming firmly established in the truth, equipped for ministry, and able to represent Christ faithfully within every sphere of society.

Action item 1: Pray for the Church to prioritise spiritual formation.
Ephesians 4:11-13 “And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, 12 to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, 13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ”
- Father, awaken within the Church across South Africa a deep hunger and thirst for Your Word. Restore a love for reading, studying, understanding, meditating upon, and obeying Your Word. Take us deeper than emotional experiences, inspirational messages, religious routines, and regular encounters with You. In Jesus’ Name we ask. “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.” (2 Timothy 3:16)
Colossians 1:28-29 “Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ. 29 For this I toil, struggling with all his energy that he powerfully works within me.”
- Father, establish sound doctrine throughout the Church in South Africa. Protect believers from false teaching, distorted Scripture, spiritual deception, and teachings that place human opinion above the authority of Your Word. Father, remove biblical illiteracy from the Church. Give believers the ability and desire to understand Scripture. Raise up teachers who can communicate God’s Word clearly and accurately, so that Christians can recognise truth, reject deception, and apply biblical principles to everyday life. “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15)
2 Timothy 3:16-17 “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”
- Father, help the Church understand that ministry is not only the responsibility of pastors and leaders. Father, let discipleship produce genuine spiritual maturity. In the name of Jesus. “But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil.” (Hebrews 5:14)
Action item 2: Pray for disciples to be rooted and established in truth.
Colossians 2:6-8 “Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, 7 rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving. 8 See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits[a] of the world, and not according to Christ.”
- Father, establish deep biblical foundations in the lives of believers throughout South Africa. Father, establish the Church in South Africa upon Jesus Christ. May nothing cause the Church to abandon the truth of the Gospel. “Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith…” (Colossians 2:6–7)

Father, establish Your people so firmly in Christ that they will remain steadfast when cultural values change. When believers face difficult decisions, uncertainty, temptation, or confusion, lead them back to Scripture and the wisdom of Your Spirit. “So then, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, walk in him…” (Colossians 2:6)
Action item 3: Pray for disciples to become Christlike representatives in society.
Galatians 5:22-23 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.”
- Father, form the character of Jesus Christ in the lives of Your people throughout South Africa. Father, remind Your people who they are in Christ. Let believers understand that their identity carries a responsibility to live differently and to proclaim the goodness of God through their lives. “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control…” (Galatians 5:22-23)
Colossians 3:12-17 “Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, 13 bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. 14 And above all this put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. 15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. 17 And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
- Father, transform the relationships of Your people. Let the way Christians relate to others become a powerful testimony of the Gospel. Let Christian leaders demonstrate humility, wisdom, justice, accountability, compassion, and courage. Do not allow us to separate our faith from our daily lives. In Jesus’ name. “Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience…” (Colossians 3:12)
1 Peter 2:9-12 “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvellous light. 10 Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy. 11 Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul. 12 Keep your conduct among the Gentiles honorable, so that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day of visitation.”
- Father, let the conduct of Your people reflect the Gospel they proclaim. Establish integrity in every area of life. Let Christians demonstrate excellence, honesty, diligence, humility, respect, and responsibility. In Jesus’ name, Amen. “And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus…” (Colossians 3:17)
NATIONAL PRAYER FOR CHRISTLIKE REPRESENTATIVES IN SOCIETY
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, we pray that the character of Jesus becomes increasingly visible in the way we live, work, lead, speak, serve, and relate to others. Give us kindness when others are unkind. Give us faithfulness when circumstances become difficult. Heal marriages.
Restore families. Teach us to serve one another. Teach us to speak words that build rather than destroy.
Father, let the Church in South Africa become a credible witness of Jesus Christ. Let us not merely preach the Gospel-let us live it. Let us not merely tell people about Jesus-let our lives demonstrate what it means to follow Him.
Let our communities become better because Christ’s people are there.
Let our workplaces become healthier because Christ’s people are there.
Let our families become stronger because Christ’s people are there.
Let our nation experience the influence of Christ through a mature, faithful, servant-hearted Church. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
