WEEK 14: KINGDOM FAMILIES AND COMMUNITIES
Day 92 (31 August 2026)
Theme: God’s Design for the Family
Action item 1: Re-establish God’s covenant design for marriage
Genesis 2:18–24 “And the Lord God said, ‘It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him’ 21And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam…and He took one of his ribs…22The rib which the Lord God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man. 23And Adam said: “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.” 24Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.” (NKJV)
Ephesians 5:21–33 “submitting to one another in the fear of God. 22Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. 23For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church…24as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything. 25Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, 26that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, 27that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish. 28So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself…30For we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones. 31“For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh…33 Let each one of you love his own wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.”
Malachi 2:14–16 “… because the Lord has been witness between you and the wife of your youth, with whom you have dealt treacherously; yet she is your companion and your wife by covenant. 15But did He not make them one, having a remnant of the Spirit? And why one? He seeks godly offspring. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously with the wife of his youth. 16“For the Lord God of Israel says that He hates divorce, for it covers one’s garment with violence,” Says the Lord of hosts. “Therefore take heed to your spirit, that you do not deal treacherously.”
- Father, we come before You and repent for not aligning our marriages with Your covenant. Birth a fresh revelation of Your covenant marriage desires inside us. Restore our marriages according to Your Word. We ask Your Holy Spirit to lead husbands as they love their wives sacrificially and teach wives to render the respect and honour to their own husband. Protect our marriages from any division that seeks to destroy what You have joined together. Where there has been treacherous dealings, we ask for Your forgiveness. Bring restoration that our marriages be a godly example to our children and to unbelievers. Let Your Blessing visibly rest upon our unity as our homes reflect Your Kingdom and our families walk in Your covenant Blessing. We ask this in Jesus’ name.
Action item 2: Establish Godly order, honour and responsibility within homes
Ephesians 6:1-4 “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2“Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with promise: 3“that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.” 4And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.”
Colossians 3:18-21 “Wives, submit to your own husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.
19Husbands, love your wives and do not be bitter toward them. 20Children, obey your parents in all things, for this is well pleasing to the Lord. 21Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged.
Proverbs 22:6 “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.”
- Father, we repent for allowing the cares of this world to distract us from our roles and responsibilities in our homes. Society moving away from Your ways, has not changed the truth that Your Word is still powerful and alive. Lord, we ask You to turn what the enemy has meant for harm into a testimony of Your goodness. Strengthen husbands to lead their own wives in love, consistency, and stability as wives honour and respect their own husbands, Guide parents as they bring godly direction into their homes and children grow up knowing and following Your ways. Restore honour as part of our daily culture, that none feel neglected, overlooked, or without value. Make our homes become places where Your Word is lived, Your presence is honoured, and Your ways are passed from generation to generation. We pray this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
Action item 3: Restore the family as a place of belonging, identity and formation
Psalm 68:5-6 “A father of the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in His holy habitation. 6God sets the solitary in families; He brings out those who are bound into prosperity; but the rebellious dwell in a dry land.” (NKJV)
Deuteronomy 6:6-9 “And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. 7You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. 8You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. 9You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.” (NKJV)
Ephesians 1:5 “having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself” (NKJV)
Ephesians 2:19-20 “Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, 20having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone” (NKJV)
- Father, we ask You to restore our families to Your original design, built firmly on Christ, our Cornerstone. As the Father to the fatherless and the Defender of widows, You have predestined us for adoption as sons through the sacrifice of Your Son Christ Jesus. We ask You to deliver those who are bound that they may enjoy prosperity; As we are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, we ask You to put Your Word back at the heart of our homes. Teach our children and guide them as they follow You. Purify their walk through Your Word as Your word is a lamp to their feet and a light to their pathway. Build our families into a testimony of Your love, faithfulness, and goodness. We ask You to surround us as with a shield of favour as You restore what has been broken, strengthen the weak, and build our families into a testimony of Your love, faithfulness, and goodness. We thank You for doing this for us as Your children we pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.
