WEEK 17: DISCIPLING THE NATION
Day 115 (23 September 2026)
Theme: Living Under the Government of Christ
Praying for disciples across South Africa to move beyond knowing the teachings of Christ into a life of submission, obedience, and practical allegiance to His Lordship. As disciples come under the government of Christ, His Word must shape their decisions, relationships, values, conduct, leadership, work, and influence. The nation is discipled as individuals and communities learn to live according to the ways and commands of Christ.

Action item 1: Pray for disciples to submit every area of life to the Lordship of Christ.
Luke 6:46-49 “Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do what I tell you? 47 Everyone who comes to me and hears my words and does them, I will show you what he is like: 48 he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when a flood arose, the stream broke against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built. 49 But the one who hears and does not do them is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. When the stream broke against it, immediately it fell, and the ruin of that house was great.”
- Father, awaken Your Church to the reality that Jesus is not merely our Saviour but our Lord. Father, awaken Your people to the understanding that there is no area of life outside the authority of Christ. In the name of Jesus. “Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do what I tell you?” (Luke 6:46)
Romans 12:1-2 “I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. 2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”
- Father, awaken Your Church to the reality that Jesus is not merely our Saviour but our Lord. Colossians 3:17 “And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
- Father, transform the minds of Your people through the power of Your Word and Your Spirit. Father, teach Your people to place their dreams, ambitions, plans, and desires under the authority of Christ. In the name of Jesus. “Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewal of your mind.” (Romans 12:2)
Action item 2: Pray for obedience to God’s word to become the foundation of Kingdom living.
James 1:22-25 “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. 24 For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. 25 But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.”
- Father, awaken Your Church to the importance of putting Your Word into practice. Make us a people whose actions demonstrate what we believe. Teach parents to model obedience and to intentionally pass biblical truth to their children and future generations. “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only.” (James 1:22)
John 14:15 “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.”
- Father, teach Your people that obedience is not merely a religious duty but an expression of our love for Jesus. Father, use Your Word to purify the hearts and lives of Your people. Give believers the strength to live with holiness and integrity. “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.” (John 14:15)
Psalm 119:9-11 “How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word. 10 With my whole heart I seek you; let me not wander from your commandments! 11 I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.”
- Father, establish Your Word as the foundation upon which Your people build their lives. Father, cause Your Word to become deeply established within us. In Jesus’ name. James teaches that the person who hears the Word and acts upon it is like someone who builds on a firm foundation. (James 1:22–25)
Action item 3: Pray for Christ’s government to produce righteousness in public and private life.
Micah 6:8 “He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?”
- Father, establish the government of Christ in the hearts and lives of Your people. Father, make Your Church a transforming influence throughout South Africa. In Jesus’ name. “He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” (Micah 6:8)
Matthew 7:24-27 “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. 26 And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. 27 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”
- Father, let righteousness begin in the hidden places of our lives. Help disciples to build their lives, families, leadership, and responsibilities upon the truth of Scripture rather than the shifting values of culture. “To do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God.” (Micah 6:8)
Titus 2:11-14 “For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, 12 training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, 13 waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, 14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.”
- Father, raise disciples whose faith produces visible righteousness in society. Father, let the government of Christ influence the way Your people work and conduct business. We ask in Jesus’ name. “Do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God.” (Micah 6:8)
NATIONAL PRAYER FOR CHRIST’S GOVERNMENT AND RIGHTEOUSNESS
Father, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, we declare that Jesus is Lord and that His Kingdom is a Kingdom of righteousness, justice, truth, mercy, and peace. Teach us to do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with You. Bring righteousness into our marriages. Bring righteousness into our churches and communities. Expose corruption and dishonesty, and establish systems that promote justice, accountability, transparency, and good stewardship.
Let Christians refuse to participate in corruption simply because it has become normalised. Lord, let the Church become a visible demonstration of what happens when people submit their lives to the government of Christ.
May our nation see the practical evidence of disciples whose lives have been transformed by the Gospel. And let the obedience of disciples become a visible testimony that Jesus Christ is Lord. We pray this In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
