Day 7: Thanksgiving and Commissioning
Action Item 1: Remember and recount God’s past faithfulness to South Africa (David’s model).
Prayer Points
- Father, we thank You for Your faithfulness to South Africa throughout our history – Your mercy, protection, and provision in accordance to Psalm 100:5 – “For the Lord is good and His love endures forever; His faithfulness continues through all generations.”
- We remember and celebrate every answered prayer, revival, and moment of national restoration You have given standing on Psalm 103:2 – “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits.”
- Thank You for the hope and future You have promised our nation in Jeremiah 29:11 – “For I know the plans I have for you… plans to give you hope and a future.”
Action Item 2: Offer praise in anticipation of answered prayers.
Prayer Points
- We praise You in advance for the transformation, healing, and revival You are bringing to South Africa in line with Hebrews 13:15 – “Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise-the fruit of lips that openly profess His name.”
- Let our thanksgiving be a testimony to Your goodness and a declaration of faith in Your promises standing on Psalm 107:1 – “Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever.”
- May gratitude and worship fill every home, church, and community in our land and Psalm 34:1 resonate across the land – “I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.”
Action Item 3: Commit yourself and your group to ongoing intercession for the nation. Pray: “Here I am – send me,” and ask for fresh commissioning and empowerment
Prayer Points
- Lord, here we are – send us! Commission us as watchmen and gatekeepers to stand in prayer for South Africa according to Isaiah 6:8 – “Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?’ And I said, ‘Here am I. Send me!’”
- Empower us with fresh anointing, perseverance, and boldness to intercede for our nation according to Acts 1:8 – “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses…”
- Bless South Africa with peace, salvation, and the knowledge of God as we continue to stand in the gap in line with Numbers 6:24-26 – “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace.”
Summation Prayer for Week 1
Sovereign Lord,
We come before You with humble hearts, acknowledging Your supreme authority over South Africa and all nations. As Your Word instructs, we offer prayers, supplications, and intercessions for all people, especially for those in authority, so that we may live peaceful and godly lives that honour You (1 Timothy 2:1-4).
We repent for our personal and national sins where we have turned from Your ways, allowed injustice, and failed to honour Your covenant. Cleanse us, O God, and renew a right spirit within us. Unite Your Church in true repentance and restore us as a beacon of righteousness and hope.
We declare, according to Psalm 2, that Jesus Christ is enthroned above every power, system, and principality in South Africa. You are King over our nation, and Your purposes will stand. We ask for South Africa as an inheritance for Christ, let Your destiny and redemptive plan be fulfilled in our land.
Raise up righteous leaders and remove those who oppose Your will. Establish justice, truth, and godly order in every sphere of government, society, and family. We take authority over the gates of our nation, inviting the King of Glory to enter and reign.
Thank You for Your faithfulness throughout our history. We praise You in anticipation of revival, healing, and transformation. Commission us as intercessors and gatekeepers, empowered by Your Spirit to stand in the gap for South Africa.
May Your kingdom come and Your will be done in South Africa as it is in heaven.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
