Week 7: Standing in the Ancient Paths

Day 47 (19 March 2026)

Day 5: Restoring and Rebuilding Righteous Leadership

Action Item 1: Removing the legal right

Exodus 22:28 “You shall not revile God, nor curse a ruler of your people”

Ecclesiastes 10:20Do not curse a king, even in your thoughts…”

Isaiah 6:7 “And he touched my mouth with it and said: ‘Behold, this has touched your lips. Your iniquity is taken away. And your sin purged’”

Father, we come before You in humility, acknowledging that restoration begins with repentance. We ask You to reveal any way in which we have given the kingdom of darkness legal ground through our words, thoughts, or attitudes toward our leaders and our nation.

  • Lord, according to Ecclesiastes 10:20, we repent for every word spoken in anger, frustration, or ignorance, and for every thought that has not aligned with Your Word. We humble ourselves before You and turn from dishonour, criticism, and unrighteous judgment.
  • Forgive us, Father, for dishonouring authority. Let Your cleansing fire, as in Isaiah 6:7, touch our lips. Remove our iniquity, purge our sin, and cleanse our speech. Align our words with Your will, and purify our hearts to respond with humility, wisdom, and honour.
  • Father, we repent for complaining instead of praying. Forgive us for neglecting our responsibility to intercede for those in authority. Restore us as a people who faithfully pray, speak life, and stand in the gap for our leaders.

Action Item 2: Acknowledge God’s Sovereignty over Leaders

Romans 13:1Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God

  • Father, according to Romans 13:1, we acknowledge that You are sovereign over all leadership. You raise up kings and remove them, and every authority exists by Your will.
  • Lord, we surrender every governing authority and every decision being made into Your control. Let Your purposes prevail over every leader and align their hearts with Your will.
  • We declare that the hearts of the leaders are in Your hands. Turn them according to Your will and align them with Your purposes.

Action Item 3: Pray for Leaders to Fulfil God’s Purpose

Romans 13:4-5For he is God’s minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God’s minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil. 5Therefore you must be subject, not only because of wrath but also for conscience’ sake.”

  • Lord, Romans 13:4 reads: “You have appointed leaders as Your servants for good”. We pray that our leaders will govern with wisdom, integrity and justice.
  • Let them fulfil their divine assignment; to uphold order, restrain evil, and serve the people faithfully according to Your will.
  • Raise up leaders who honour You, who act with discernment, and who carry out their responsibilities with accountability and truth.

Action Item 4: Interceding for leaders for Peace and Godliness in our Nation

1 Timothy 2:1-4 (NIV) “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, 2for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. 3For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”

  • Father, we commit to stand in the gap for all those in authority. We lift up our leaders before You with supplications, intercession and thanksgiving according to Your word (1 Timothy 2:1-4).
  • Move on their hearts, guide their decisions and surround them with wise and godly counsel. Let Your will prevail in every decision made by leaders. Align their heart with Your purposes and may their leadership reflect righteousness, wisdom and truth.
  • Father, we ask that our nation experience peace, order and stability. Remove confusion, unrest and disorder. Establish an environment of safety, peace and unity.
  • Let our nation walk in godliness and reverence of You. Restore moral clarity, righteousness, and truth in every sphere of our nation.
  • Father, Your Word declares in 1 Timothy 2:4, You desire that all to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth. Lord, we ask that You reveal Yourself to those who do not know You – open blind eyes, soften hardened hearts, and draw many into salvation. Send Your labourers into the fields, for the harvest is ready.
