Rejecting Compromise
Theme Scripture: 1 Samuel 15:22 “So Samuel said: ‘Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed than the fat of rams.”
Action item 1: Identify and renounce all forms of compromise
Psalm 139:23-24 “Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me and know my anxieties; and see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”
1 John 1:9“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
Proverbs 28:13 “He who covers his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy.”
- Heart Examination Father, as stated in Psalm 139:23-24, we ask You to search our hearts and reveal every area of compromise within us in Jesus’ name.
- Repentance and Cleansing Lord, we confess our sins; cleanse us and restore us to righteousness according to 1 John 1:9.
- Turning Away from Sin Father, give us grace to turn away from sin and walk in Your mercy; Your word in Proverbs 28:13 says “He who covers his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy” – align us Lord to Your word in Jesus’ name.
Action item 2: Stand firm in righteousness despite pressure
Ephesians 6:13 “Therefore take up the whole armour of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”
Proverbs 28:1“The wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are bold as a lion.”
James 4:7“Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.”
Psalm 119:11 “Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.”
- Strength to Stand Lord, strengthen us to stand firm in righteousness despite all the pressures we may encounter as commanded in Ephesians 6:13 in Jesus’ name.
- Boldness in Faith Father, make us bold in righteousness and unshaken in our faith as stated in Proverbs 28:1.
- Courage to Resist Evil Lord, we submit to You; give us strength to resist every form of evil according to James 4:7.
Action item 3: Uphold godly standards in every sphere of life
2 Corinthians 6:17 “‘Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you.’”
Proverbs 10:9“He who walks with integrity walks securely, but he who perverts his ways will become known.”
Ephesians 5:11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness but rather expose them.”
- Living Set Apart: Father, help us to live a life consecrates, set apart and pleasing to You in accordance to 2 Corinthians 6:17.
- Integrity in Conduct: Lord, according to Proverbs 10:9, establish integrity in our lives and guide our actions in truth in Jesus’ name.
- Light in Darkness: Lord, make us a light in darkness and give us courage to uphold truth as stated in Ephesians 5:11 in the name of Jesus.
