Week 3 Theme: “Standing in the Gap Against Destruction and Disaster”
Anchor Scripture:
“So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one.” Ezekiel 22:30
As we pray through Week 3 of May, we turn our focus toward intercession for South Africa amid the flooding, destructive winds, storms, infrastructure collapse, fear and instability affecting various provinces across the nation. While the overarching emphasis of this month remains the strengthening of the family altar, we recognise that families cannot be separated from the conditions surrounding them.
In this week of prayer, we stand as watchmen over the nation, not in fear, but in faith; contending for mercy, protection, repentance, healing, restoration and divine intervention over South Africa. We lift up affected communities, grieving families, emergency responders, leaders and vulnerable households before the Lord, declaring that God remains our refuge and strong tower in times of trouble.
Recent severe weather conditions, including flooding, snowfall, destructive winds and storm damage, have led to loss of life, displacement and widespread infrastructure damage across multiple provinces. As believers, we respond not with panic, but with prayer, compassion and unwavering trust in God’s sovereignty over the nation.
Week 3: Hope, Revival and National Awakening
Day 22 (23 May 2026)
Theme: Healing the Land
Prayer Points: Asking God to awaken the Church.
Action item 1: Praying for revival.
Habakkuk 3:2 “I have heard all about you, Lord. I am filled with awe by your amazing works. In this time of our deep need, help us again as you did in years gone by. and in your anger, remember your mercy.”
- Lord, let revival arise in South Africa even in the midst of crisis and uncertainty. As the Book of Habakkuk 3:2 reads, we say: “We have heard all about You, Lord. We are filled with awe by Your amazing works. In this time of our deep need, help us again as You did in years gone by. And in Your anger, remember Your mercy. Lord hear our supplications and our pleas we beseech You in the name of Jesus.
Action item 2: Pray for Hope to arise in our Nation.
Psalm 85:6 “Won’t you revive us again, so your people can rejoice in you?”
Psalm 37:37,39,40 “…The godly ones will have a peaceful, prosperous future with a happy ending. 39But the Lord will be the Savior of all who love him. Even in their time of trouble, God will live in them as strength. 40Because of their faith in him, their daily portion will be a Father’s help and deliverance from evil. This is true for all who turn to hide themselves in him! (The Passion Translation)
- Father in the name of Jesus we pray, replace fear and despair with faith. Lord, bless us with unity and renewed hope and revive us again Father so that we can rejoice in You as declared in Psalm 85:6.
- Psalms 37:37-40 declares that the Godly ones will have a peaceful, prosperous future with a happy ending. God will live in them as strength. Because of their faith in Him their daily portion will be a Father’s help and deliverance from evil This is true for all who turn and hide themselves in Him.” Let this nation hide herself in You Father we pray in the name of Jesus.
Action item 3: Prayer to awaken the Church to pray.
Psalm 43:3-4 “Pour into me the brightness of your daybreak! Pour into me your rays of revelation-truth! Let them comfort and gently lead me onto the shining path, showing the way into your burning presence, into your many sanctuaries of holiness. 4Then I will come closer to your very altar until I come before you, the God of my ecstatic joy! I will praise you with the harp that plays in my heart to you, my God, my magnificent God! (The Passion Translation)
Romans 15:13 “I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit” (New Living Translation)
- Father, we pray, may this season awaken the Church to prayer, righteousness and national transformation. As Psalm 43:3-4 declares, let the Church say: “Pour into us the brightness of Your daybreak! Pour into us the rays of Your revelation truth. Let them comfort and gently lead us onto the shining path, showing the way into Your burning presence, into Your many sanctuaries of holiness. Then we will come closer to Your very altar, until we come before You, the God of our ecstatic joy. We will praise You with the harp that plays in our hearts, to You our God, our Magnificent God.”
- And for Your church we declare Romans 15:13 “I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in Him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.” We pray in the name of Jesus Amen.
