Week 3: Healing the Land
Day 17 (17 June 2026)
HEALING HISTORICAL WOUNDS AND DIVISION:
ACTION ITEM 1: Pray for reconciliation between races, cultures, and generations.
2 Corinthians 3:16 “Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.”
[veil = to steal; take away by stealth; to conceal; to hinder the knowledge of a thing]
Ephesians 2:14-16 “For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down [to lose a person tied or fastened] the middle wall [the wall around a city, a partition wall, a wall of a house] of separation, 15having abolished [unemployed, inactivate] in His flesh the enmity [hatred], that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances [doctrine, decree], so as to create in Himself one new man from the two [Jew and Gentile], thus making peace, 16and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity [hatred].”
2 Corinthians 5:18 “Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation.”
Father, thank You that when Jesus gave His life for us, the veil was torn and the way into Your presence was opened. Thank You that through Him, every wall of separation can come down and what has been divided can be united again. Lord, we need Your presence. Remove every veil that blinds our hearts, prejudice, bitterness, pride, fear, and every lie that fuels division. Bring into Your light and heal the wounds of our past that are still affecting relationships between cultures, generations, and communities. Father, forgive us where we have judged, rejected, and hurt one another. Teach us to bear with one another, and to forgive as You have forgiven us. Let compassion replace suspicion, understanding replace hurt, and love overcome hatred. Jesus, You have entrusted us with the ministry of reconciliation. Guide us to bring healing where there has been brokenness, restoration where there has been injustice, and unity where there has been division. As we turn our hearts back to You, turn our hearts toward one another, for true healing is found in Your presence. Let Your peace rest upon our communities, and may people from every generation, culture, and race stand together as a testimony of Your reconciling love and grace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
ACTION ITEM 2: Bless communities that have experienced historical oppression and marginalization.
Psalm 82:3-4 “Defend the poor and fatherless; do justice to the afflicted and needy. 4Deliver the poor and needy; free them from the hand of the wicked.”
Isaiah 61:1-4 “He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives…They shall rebuild the old ruins; they shall raise up the former desolations.”
Father, as our righteous Judge, we ask You to bring justice for all who are oppressed. We lift every community before You that has and is suffering oppression, injustice, and exclusion. Jesus, heal the brokenhearted that they may walk in dignity, bring freedom to those bound by the past. We ask You to deliver the poor and needy from the hand of the wicked. Let Your healing power flow into every wound as Your truth sets the captives free. May those with weary hearts find their rest in You. Raise up Godly fathers and leaders who will defend the poor and love the fatherless. Teach communities to rebuild on Your truth and righteousness that all may walk in strength, and the Blessing of Your presence. Father, You have promised to restore the years that the locust has eaten. As You rebuild the ruins and restore what has been broken, transform our minds and renew our hearts, that we may become faithful stewards of all that You restore. Grant us Your wisdom as we steward Your blessings and grace to use every restored gift for Your glory. Let healing arise as Your favour rest on those who have endured affliction and their lives become a testimony of Your goodness and love. We pray this In the mighty Jesus Amen.
ACTION ITEM 3: Declare forgiveness, unity, and healing over the national identity of South Africa.
Jeremiah 18:5-10 “Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying, 6 O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the LORD. Behold, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel. 7At what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, and to pull down, and to destroy it; 8if that nation, against whom I have pronounced, turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them. 9And at what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant it; 10if it do evil in my sight, that it obeys not my voice, then I will repent of the good, wherewith I said I would benefit them.” (KJV)
Father, You are the Potter, and South Africa is the clay. Mold our nation according to the identity You have designed for us. The enemy has tried to forge an identity rooted in hatred, division, injustice, fear, violence, envy, bitterness, and hopelessness. Lord, since this does not align with Your purpose for our nation, we ask You to uproot, tear down, and destroy these works of darkness.
When we began to build a new South Africa, You blessed us with favour, ability, and resources to plant a hopeful future. According to Your promise in Jeremiah 18:8, as we repent and turn from our evil ways, You will relent from the disaster You had planned to bring upon our nation.
Lord, we confess that we have done evil in Your sight and have not obeyed Your voice. Father, do not withdraw Your help from us. We plead for Your mercy. As we bow before You in repentance, asking for forgiveness, withhold Your wrath from our land, especially concerning the corruption, innocent bloodshed, abuse, and violence that plague us.
Your Word in Jeremiah 18:10 warns that when we misuse the good You have given us, You may reconsider the blessings You have bestowed on us. Father, hear our cry again. Have mercy on Your children and on our nation. Restore us and heal our land.
Father, as we move forward, we ask You to reveal and establish the national identity You intended for South Africa from the beginning. Grant us the wisdom, understanding, and courage to fulfil Your purposes. Guide us as we return to Your blueprint for South Africa and align ourselves with Your will for this nation. We pray this in the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.
