WEEK 7: RESTORATION OF NATIONAL IDENTITY AND PURPOSE
Day 45: (15 July 2026)
Healing the Wounds of National Identity: Praying for restoration from historical divisions, trauma, and fractured identities.
Action item 1: Repent for the sins that have wounded South Africa’s identity
Daniel 9:8-9 “O Lord, to us belongs shame of face, to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, because we have sinned against You. 9To the Lord our God belong mercy and forgiveness, though we have rebelled against Him.”
Joel 2:12 “‘Now, therefore,’ says the Lord, ‘turn to Me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning.’”
2 Chronicles 7:14 “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
Proverbs 14:34 “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.”
Action item 2: Pray for healing of historical trauma and generational wounds
Psalm 147:3 “He heals the broken-hearted and binds up their wounds.”
Isaiah 58:12 “Those from among you shall build the old waste places; you shall raise up the foundations of many generations; and you shall be called the Repairer of the Breach, the Restorer of Streets to dwell in.”
Galatians 3:13 “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us…”
Jeremiah 30:17 “For I will restore health to you and heal you of your wounds,’ says the Lord…”
Action item 3: Declare restoration, reconciliation, and a renewed national identity
1 Peter 2:9 “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvellous light.”
2 Corinthians 5:18 “Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation…”
Joel 2:25-26 “So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten…26You shall eat in plenty and be satisfied, and praise the name of the Lord your God…”
2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
- Father, we come before You in repentance, asking Your forgiveness for the sins that have divided our nation—racism, tribalism, injustice, violence, oppression, hatred, prejudice, and every form of division. Forgive us for the ways we have wounded one another and broken relationships across individuals, families, communities, and generations.
- Lord, we lift before You all who carry the pain of historical injustices, violence, poverty, displacement, broken families, and unresolved trauma. By Your Holy Spirit, bring healing where there are bitterness, fear, mistrust, resentment, and hopelessness. Restore hearts, strengthen families, heal communities, and renew every region that has been deeply scarred. May Your peace and reconciliation prevail throughout South Africa. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Prophetic Declarations
- We declare that South Africa’s identity is rooted in God’s eternal purpose and not in the pain, failures, or divisions of its past.
- We declare that reconciliation will flourish across every racial, cultural, linguistic, economic, and political divide, as God restores unity among His people.
- We declare that every spirit of hatred, prejudice, bitterness, and division is broken, and that love, forgiveness, and peace will prevail throughout the nation.
- We declare that God is making South Africa one people under His lordship, united in righteousness, justice, and mutual honour.
- We declare that the Lord is restoring what has been broken in our families, communities, and nation, and that South Africa will walk together in His purposes, bringing glory to His name.
