WEEK 19: SOUTH AFRICA AMONG THE NATIONS
Day 128 (6 October 2026)
Theme: A Witness of the Kingdom among the Nations.
As South Africa takes its place among the nations, we pray that its influence will carry a visible and credible witness of the Kingdom of God. Through the Church, citizens, missionaries, professionals, businesses, institutions, creatives, sportspeople, academics, and those serving on international platforms, may the character of Christ be demonstrated through righteousness, integrity, compassion, excellence, and service. South Africa’s witness must extend beyond what it says to what it embodies, so that wherever South Africans are positioned, their lives and work reveal the values and government of Christ.
Action item 1: Pray for the Church in South Africa to Carry the Gospel Beyond Our Borders.
Acts 1:8 “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
Matthew 28:19-20 “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.”
Romans 10:14-15 “How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? 15And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!’”
- Father, we repent for not stepping out boldly to fulfil Your Great Commission. Your Word declares that we will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon us, so fill us afresh and make us Your witnesses from South Africa to the ends of the earth. Teach us to make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything You have commanded. Raise up those who will be willing to go, and we ask You to open doors for Your Church to carry the Gospel to the nations. Give us peace and boldness to proclaim the Gospel to those who have not yet heard. We thank You that South Africa will become known as a nation that spreads the good news of the Gospel to all nations. Thank You that You promise to be with us always. We pray in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
Action item 2: Pray for South Africans Abroad to Become Credible Representatives of Kingdom Values.
Matthew 5:14-16 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Philippians 2:14-16 “Do all things without complaining and disputing, 15that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, 16holding fast the word of life, so that I may rejoice in the day of Christ that I have not run in vain or labored in vain.”
1 Peter 2:11-12 “Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul, 12having your conduct honorable among the Gentiles, that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by your good works which they observe, glorify God in the day of visitation.”
- Father, we pray for our brethren living in nations abroad. Help them show the character of Christ Jesus through integrity, righteousness, compassion, humility and excellence in service. Strengthen them to stand as a light in the world where You have placed them, so that people see their good works and glorify You. Help them do everything without complaining or arguing, so that they are blameless in a world that has lost its way, shining as they hold firmly to the word of life. As strangers in a foreign land, guard them from anything that wars against their souls. Let their conduct be honourable, bringing glory to You. Bless them, anoint them and prosper them in all their godly ways. Use them to advance Your kingdom. We pray in Jesus’ name.
Action item 3: Pray for South Africa’s National Witness to Reflect the Character of God.
Isaiah 60:1-3 “Arise, shine; for your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you. 2For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and deep darkness the people; but the Lord will arise over you, and His glory will be seen upon you. 3The Gentiles shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising.”
Micah 6:8 “He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?”
2 Corinthians 5:18-20 “Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, 19that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. 20Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God.”
- Father, let South Africa arise and shine, as Your light comes and Your glory rises over us. Where darkness tries to cover, let Your glory be seen in and upon our nation, so that other nations may be drawn to Your light. We pray that righteousness, justice, reconciliation, compassion and peace would reflect Your character as our people engage in every sphere of society. Teach us to do justly, love mercy and walk humbly with You, in our government, our businesses, our churches, our homes, our families, our marriages and our lives. Through Christ, You reconciled us to Yourself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation. Make us a people of reconciliation who live as Christ’s ambassadors, so that the world sees You through us. May our testimony be that You are the only God who is able to take what the devil meant for evil and make it beautiful in Your time. Thank You for Your faithfulness. We pray in the mighty name of Jesus.
