WEEK 20: STEPPING INTO OUR APOSTOLIC MANDATE – A NATION SENT
Day 134 (12 October 2026)
Theme: Here We Are, Send Us.
Action item 1: Pray for the Church in South Africa to Respond Wholeheartedly to God’s Call.
Isaiah 6:8 “Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.”
Romans 12:1-2 “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. 2And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”
Luke 9:23-24 “Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. 24For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it.”
- Father, in Your Word You ask, “Whom shall I send, and who will go?” You have given Your Church in South Africa a Kingdom assignment. As Your Body, we repent for not obeying Your command to go and make disciples. Move Your Church from hearing Your call to embracing it. As we make ourselves available, give us courage to go. By Your mercy, we give our lives as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to You. Renew our minds, so we do not follow the ways of this world. Teach us to deny ourselves, take up our cross each day, and follow You. When we lose our lives for Your sake, we will find them. Align our minds with the mind of Christ. Lord, may Your Body in South Africa answer, “Here am I. Send me.” We pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Action item 2: Pray for Every Believer to Recognise that they are Sent.
John 20:21 “So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.”
Matthew 5:13-16 “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. 14“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden15Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Colossians 3:17 “And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.”
- Father, Jesus said, “As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” Open our eyes to see that being sent is not only for ministers, evangelists and missionaries. Wherever our feet touch ground, we have a Kingdom assignment: in our homes, schools, workplaces and communities. As we go, may we spread the gospel of peace. Let Your peace in us open doors for our light to shine. May we be the salt of the earth, seasoning and stopping decay, even in hard places. Let our lives bring Your goodness to everyone we meet, as we reflect Your presence in a dark world. Whatever we do, in word or deed, may we do it in Your name, with Your love, bringing lasting hope and change. Father, through Jesus, we give thanks for choosing us to reflect You to a dying world. We pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.
Action item 3: Pray for South Africa to Yield its National Capacity to the Purposes of God.
Psalm 67:1-2 “God be merciful to us and bless us, and cause His face to shine upon us, Selah. 2That Your way may be known on earth, Your salvation among all nations.”
1 Peter 4:10-11 “As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. 11If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.”
Colossians 1:16-18 “For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. 18And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence.”
- Father, we repent for misusing, abusing and profiting wrongly from the gifts, resources, relationships, institutions, knowledge, opportunities and influence that You entrusted to us to establish and build South Africa. Have mercy on us, O Lord! We acknowledge that everything was created through You and for You. All that You have gifted South Africa with, belongs to You. Today, we place every gift, resource, relationship, institution, knowledge, opportunity, and influence at the foot of the cross. Purify them. Repurpose them for the advancement of Your Kingdom on earth. As Your Church, we have each received gifts to build, encourage and exhort one another, as good stewards of God’s grace. May our words mirror Your Word. May our service point people to You, who makes all things beautiful in Your time. Christ, as the Head of Your Church and first in all things, we ask You to tear down every throne, dominion, principality and power that exalts itself above You and hinders You from being glorified in South Africa. Bless South Africa. Lord, let Your face shine on South Africa. May we become a living testimony of Your goodness on earth so that Your salvation may be known among all nations. We pray in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
