WEEK 20: STEPPING INTO OUR APOSTOLIC MANDATE – A NATION SENT
Day 139 (17 October 2026)
Theme: Build A Generational Inheritance.
Action item 1: Pray for each Generation to Faithfully Transmit the Knowledge and Works of God.
Psalm 78:4-7 “We will not hide them from their children, telling to the generation to come the praises of the Lord, and His strength and His wonderful works that He has done. 5For He established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which He commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children; 6That the generation to come might know them, the children who would be born, that they may arise and declare them to their children, 7That they may set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep His commandments;
Psalm 145:4 “One generation shall praise Your works to another, and shall declare Your mighty acts.
Deuteronomy 6:6-9 “And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. 7You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. 8You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. 9You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.”
- Father God, we repent for not teaching our children all You have done for us, and for not teaching them Your ways. You established a testimony in Jacob and appointed a law in Israel. You commanded fathers to make them known to their children. We will no longer hide Your praises, Your strength and Your wonderful works from them. Let us teach every generation the testimony, truth, wisdom and values You have taught us, so that they set their hope in You, do not forget Your works, and keep Your commands. As Your words are in our hearts, let what’s in our heart overflow out of our mouths as we teach our children at home, when walking, when lying down and when getting up. Help us to live out what we teach, so that our children see it as well as hear it. Let one generation praise Your works to another, as our children arise to declare Your mighty acts to the next generation. We pray this in the mighty name of Jesus.
Action item 2: Pray for the Intentional Raising and Releasing of the Next Generation.
2 Timothy 2:2 “And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.”
Numbers 27:18-20 “And the Lord said to Moses: “Take Joshua the son of Nun with you, a man in whom is the Spirit, and lay your hand on him; 19set him before Eleazar the priest and before all the congregation, and inaugurate him in their sight. 20And you shall give some of your authority to him, that all the congregation of the children of Israel may be obedient.”
Ephesians 4:11-13 “And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 12for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ,”
- Father, we repent for the times we have held onto our positions, where we have not trained people. Raise up leaders who will intentionally identify, disciple, mentor, and equip the next generation to carry Kingdom responsibility. Let nothing You have taught us end with us. Like Moses, let us find those in whom is Your Spirit, and set them before Your people. Give us the humility to share our authority, and the trust to release them, so that they can carry Kingdom responsibility beyond us. Lord, You gave apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers to equip Your people for the work of ministry and to build up the body of Christ. We thank You for sending and raising leaders who are prepared to see and carry the vision from generation to generation. We pray this in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
Action item 3: Pray for this Generation to Leave Foundations upon which Future Generations can Build.
Proverbs 13:22 “A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children, but the wealth of the sinner is stored up for the righteous.
Isaiah 58:12 “Those from among you shall build the old waste places; you shall raise up the foundations of many generations; and you shall be called the Repairer of the Breach, the Restorer of Streets to Dwell In.”
1 Corinthians 3:10-11 “According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let each one take heed how he builds on it. 11For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.”
- Father, we repent for the times we lived for ourselves. Help us to live and build in a way that leaves a lasting inheritance for the generations that come after us. May our obedience, wisdom, integrity, and faithfulness establish spiritual, moral, intellectual, economic, and societal foundations that blesses others rather than burden those who follow. Raise up a generation that will rebuild what has been broken, restore what has been lost, Make us repairers of the breach and restorers of what is needed for people to live in peace and security. Teach us to build wisely, remembering that Jesus Christ is the only true foundation. May everything we establish in South Africa be built upon Him and endure for generations to come. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
