WEEK 5: JUSTICE AND THE RULE OF LAW
Day 31 (1 July 2026)
Theme: Justice for the Oppressed and Vulnerable: Protection and justice for the vulnerable and disenfranchised.
Action item 1: Pray for victims of violent crime, abuse, and corruption in South Africa.
Micah 6:8 “He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord requires of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”
Isaiah 1:17 “Learn to do right. Seek justice, encourage the oppressed. Defend the cause of the fatherless, plead the case of the widow.”
Proverbs 21:3 “To do what is right and just is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.”
- Lord, our country has become so riddled with crime, violence, abuse and corruption. A day does not go by that we do not hear of people being killed violently, of young woman being kidnapped, children missing, corruption in our government entities. Father, we pray that we do not as a nation become desensitized of such crimes that our hearts turn away from Your heart in seeking justice and peace in our land. We seek Your divine intervention in Jesus’ name. We are praying Lord, in the name of Jesus Christ, that our hearts be so connected to You, that when we see and hear of victims of violence, a Holy anger arise in us that we violently go into spiritual war and action against such atrocities. Matthew 11: 12 and James 2:17. Teach our hands to war Father. Psalm 144: 1. Raise a Holy passion and zeal withing us, fervency and boldness to stand for those who are not only affected but those who are victims of violence, in Jesus Christ name.
Action item 2: Intercede for fair access to justice for poor and rural communities.
Psalm 82:3-4 “Defend the cause of the weak and fatherless, maintain the right of the poor and oppressed. 4. Rescue the weak and needy, deliver them from the hand of the wicked.”
Job 29:12 “Because I rescued the poor who cried for help, and the fatherless who had none to assist them.”
Luke 10:33 “But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was, and when he saw him, he took pity on him.”
Philippians 2: 21 “For everyone looks out for his own interests, not those of Jesus Christ.”
- Father, we lift up our nation, our communities, and our families before You. Raise a people who will champion justice and defend the rights of the poor, the fatherless, the afflicted, and the needy, especially in our rural communities. We bring before You those who have little or no access to justice, where corruption, injustice, and broken systems often prevail. As the Judge of all the earth, establish Your Lordship in these communities. Let the fear of the Lord guide those in authority, and raise up fair, transparent, and effective systems that uphold the dignity and rights of every person, ensuring justice is accessible to all in the name of Jesus Christ. Search our hearts, Lord, as individuals, communities, and as a nation. Forgive us for selfishness, complacency, and neglecting Christ’s command to care for the poor and pursue justice. Turn us from our evil ways and empower us not only to speak against injustice, but to act with courage and compassion on behalf of the vulnerable. May Your righteousness be established throughout our land, and may we faithfully reflect Your heart for justice and mercy. In Jesus Christ’s name, Amen. (Luke 8:14)
Action item 3: Declare protection over women, children, and elderly citizens.
Proverbs 31:8-9 “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute, 9. Speak up and judge fairly, defend the rights of the poor and needy.”
Matthew 18:6 “But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.”
Romans 15:1 “We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not please ourselves.”
1 Thessalonians 5:14 “And we urge you, brothers, warn those who are idle, encourage the timid, help the weak, be patient with everyone.”
Father, these are the most vulnerable in our society. They are subject to many abuses and unfairness. They are exposed to violence and are never protected. You have called women to be those who are wailing pleading the cause of the nation and families, Jeremiah 9: 17-19, and yet they are the most vulnerable and not a priority in our governmental systems unless there is a campaign that month on women and children. Father daily our girls are being kidnapped and used for human trafficking, prostitution, slavery, etc. We are praying Lord for their protection. Let the cry of injustice concerning the vulnerable be heard throughout the land. Let kings arise to fight and protect them so as to have a healthy nation in Jesus Christ’s name we pray. Amen.
