WEEK 8: UNITY & SOCIAL COHESION

Day 50: (20 July 2026)

Day 1: One Blood, One People; God’s Heart for Unity – Recognising that God created every person in His image and calls us to live together as one people, united in Christ despite our diversity.

Action item 1: Repent for every way we have dishonoured God’s image in others

Genesis 1:26-27Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.”

James 3:9-10With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God. 10 Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so.”

I John 4:20 “If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen?”

  • Father, we repent for the way we have dishonoured Your image in others through prejudice, hatred, contempt, discrimination, injustice, racism, tribalism, division, harsh words and indifference. You created every person in Your image and likeness, and we confess that we have often failed to love others as You have loved us. Forgive every ungodly attitude, word, action, and system that has denied the dignity and worth bestowed upon every person created in Your image. Cleanse our hearts of every form of envy and strife and fill us with Your love so that we may honour one another, walk in unity, and reflect the character of Christ. In the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.

Action item 2: Pray for the revelation of our common identity in Christ

Acts 17:26-27 “And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings, 27 so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us;”

Galatians 3:28 “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.”

Ephesians 4:4-6There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6 one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.”

  • Father, thank You that You have made every nation from one blood and have drawn us to Yourself through Jesus Christ. Reveal to us the truth that our identity is not rooted in tribe, language, culture or people group, but in Christ alone. Help us to embrace one another as members of one body, filled with one Spirit, serving one Lord, and worshipping You as our Father. Let Your love overcome every barrier that divides us, and teach us to walk in humility, unity, and peace. May our lives reflect the oneness You have established in Christ, so that Your name is glorified among all people. In Jesus’ name, Amen

Action item 3: Declare God’s purpose for unity among South Africa’s people

Psalm 133:1-3Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! 2 It is like the precious oil upon the head, running down on the beard, the beard of Aaron, running down on the edge of his garments. 3 It is like the dew of Hermon, descending upon the mountains of Zion; for there the LORD commanded the blessing– life forevermore.”

John 17:20-23 “I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; 21 “that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. 22 “And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: 23 “I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.”

Revelation 7:9 “After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands.”

  • Father, establish Your unity in South Africa. Let every tribe, language, culture, and community be drawn together in Christ, reflecting the oneness for which Jesus prayed. As we choose to walk in love and unity, honouring Christ in one another, may Your commanded blessing flow throughout our nation. Let the unity of Your people be a testimony to the world of a Father’s love, drawing many to faith in Christ Jesus. We pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.
