Week 5: One language; One Righteous Alignment

Additional Scriptural Anchors for Week 5:

Genesis 11:1-9

Now the whole earth had one language, and of one speech. And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, they found a plain in the land of Shinar and they dwelt there. Then they said to one another, “Come, let us make bricks and bake them thoroughly.” They had brick for stone, and they had asphalt for mortar. And they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top is in the heavens; let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth.” But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower which the sons of men had built. And the LORD said, “Indeed the people are one and they all have one language, and this is what they begin to do; now nothing that they propose to do will be withheld from them. Come, let Us go down and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.” So the Lord scattered them abroad from there over the face of all the earth, and they ceased building the city.

  1. Therefore its name is called Babel, because there the Lord confused the language of all the earth; and from there the Lord scattered them abroad over the face of all the earth

Day 31 (3 March 2026)

Protecting Godly Unity from a root of rebellion

Prayer point 1: Rebellion leads to rejection by God

Genesis 11:4 They said “Come let us build ourselves a city and a tower whose top is in the heavens; let us make a name for ourselves”

1 Samuel 15v23 “For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, And stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, He also has rejected you from being king.”

Joshua 24:15 “And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers …. but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

  • Father, we repent of any disloyalty, rebellion, pride and stubbornness in our hearts. Forgive us where we resisted Your instruction or justified our disobedience.
  • Cleanse us from the pride and disloyalty that justifies our disobedience, causing us to slip into a quiet rebellion; causing us to be rejected by You.
  • We repent, renounce and revoke all stubbornness, iniquities and idolatry that have a legal right in our life, and we ask You to remove it from our nation. Teach us to walk in humility, surrender and obedience.
  • Lord we choose to honour and restore You as our God and our King.

Prayer point 2: Loyalty to self or Unity in Covenant?

Genesis 11:4 They said “Come let us build ourselves a city and a tower whose top is in the heavens; let us make a name for ourselves”

 Judges 2v16-19

16 Nevertheless, the Lord raised up judges who delivered them out of the hand of those who plundered them.

17Yet they would not listen to their judges, but they played the harlot with other gods, and bowed down to them. They turned quickly from the way in which their fathers walked, in obeying the commandments of the Lord; they did not do so.

18And when the Lord raised up judges for them, the Lord was with the judge and delivered them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge; for the Lord was moved to pity by their groaning because of those who oppressed them and harassed them.

  • Lord, we repent if there has been any hidden motives of building our own name or tower. We ask for forgiveness and ask You to sever the root of any ungodly altars or agreement we have made with the kingdom of darkness.
  • God You as the Judge brought deliverance when our groaning reached Your ears. We repent for turning away from You after Your deliverance. Purify us, cleanse us and heal us from our iniquities. Realign our loyalties and bring us into oneness with You.

Action Item 3: Refresh, Protect and strengthen the Bonds of Unity

Acts 4:24 When they heard that, they raised their voice to God with one accord and said: “Lord, You are God, who made heaven and earth and the sea, and all that is in them.

Psalm 133:3 It is like the dew of Hermon, descending upon the mountains of Zion; for there the Lord commanded the blessing-Life forevermore.

  • Father, as You pour Your anointing oil over us, bring us into Your sanctuary for times of refreshing and protection according to Psalm 133.
  • Knit our hearts together in Your truth and Love, teaching us to stay consistent in our loyalty to You.
  • We ask that You unite us as One body in Christ. Break down the walls. As Your church unite, You will cause Your Light to shine over us as You did for Your people in the Land of Goshen.  let there be a visible distinction. Teach us faithfulness and consistency in our walk with You.
