WEEK 19: SOUTH AFRICA AMONG THE NATIONS
Day 127 (5 October 2026)
Theme: South Africa Positioned among the Nations.
As we enter Week 19, we recognise that God is sovereign over nations, their times, boundaries, opportunities, relationships, and spheres of influence. South Africa’s place among the nations is therefore not merely geographical, political, or economic; it carries responsibility before God. Today we pray for the nation to discern and faithfully steward its place in the global community – not pursuing prominence for its own sake, but recognising that every platform, relationship, resource, and opportunity can become an instrument through which the purposes and character of God are revealed
Action item 1: Pray for South Africa to Discern its God-Given Place and Purpose among the Nations.
Acts 17:26-27 “And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings, 27so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us;”
Deuteronomy 4:6-8 “Therefore be careful to observe them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples who will hear all these statutes, and say, ‘Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.’ 7“For what great nation is there that has God so near to it, as the Lord our God is to us, for whatever reason we may call upon Him? 8And what great nation is there that has such statutes and righteous judgments as are in all this law which I set before you this day?”
Psalm 22:27-28 “All the ends of the world shall remember and turn to the Lord, and all the families of the nations shall worship before You. 28For the kingdom is the Lord’s, and He rules over the nations.”
- Father, the Kingdom is Yours and You rule over all nations. We repent for not stewarding South Africa’s position, history, relationships, resources and opportunities responsibly before You by not using them to extend Your Kingdom purposes. Open our eyes to see that everything we have is a gift from You. You made every nation from one blood. Unite us in You as You have set South Africa’s times and boundaries to seek You and find You as You are never far from us. Realign our hearts to follow Your ways as godly statutes and righteous judgment are restored in our land. Position South Africa to be a blessing and a testimony as our relationships are restored domestically and globally. Teach us to steward every resource, opportunity responsibly according to Your Kingdom principles. Create Godly opportunities that the nations of the world will witness Your goodness and turn back to You. We pray nations will worship before You as they witness Your wisdom and understanding align South Africa back onto Your path of restoration and Blessing. We pray in Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
Action item 2: Pray for South Africa to Steward its International Relationships with Wisdom and Righteousness.
Proverbs 14:34 “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.”
Micah 6:8 “He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?”
James 3:17-18 “But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. 18Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.”
- Father, we bring South Africa’s relationships with other nations and international institutions to You. Let them be led by wisdom, integrity, justice and mutual honour, not selfish ambition or exploitation. Your word says righteousness exalts a nation. Let righteousness lift South Africa up, and where dishonesty or selfish motives have crept into our dealings with other nations, convict us and bring us back to Your ways. Teach our leaders to do justly, love mercy and walk humbly with You. Guide them in the ways that reflect Your wisdom from above: pure, peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy, without favouritism or hypocrisy. May South Africa be known as a nation of peacemakers, so that the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace at every table where we have a seat. We pray in Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
Action item 3: Pray for South Africa’s Position Among the Nations to Serve the Purposes of God.
Psalm 67:1-7 “God be merciful to us and bless us, and cause His face to shine upon us, 2That Your way may be known on earth, Your salvation among all nations. 3Let the peoples praise You, O God; let all the peoples praise You. 4Oh, let the nations be glad and sing for joy! For You shall judge the people righteously, and govern the nations on earth. Selah 5Let the peoples praise You, O God; let all the peoples praise You. 6Then the earth shall yield her increase; God, our own God, shall bless us. 7God shall bless us, and all the ends of the earth shall fear Him.”
Isaiah 60:1-3 “Arise, shine; for your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you. 2For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and deep darkness the people; but the Lord will arise over you, and His glory will be seen upon you. 3The Gentiles shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising.”
Matthew 5:14-16 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”
- Father, we repent for not reflecting the light of Your Kingdom to the nations. Have mercy on us and let Your face shine on South Africa. As Your people praise You, may Your way and Your salvation become known among all nations. Let every international platform and sphere of influence You’ve entrusted to us become an opportunity for righteous witnessing, reconciliation and for advancing Your Kingdom purposes. As the city on the hill, may we reflect the light of Jesus to all in our homes, communities and nation so that nations will glorify You as they see our good works reflect Your light. Let Your light drive away every form of darkness in and over South Africa. Arise over us that Your glory may be seen by all and that kings will be drawn to Your light.
