WEEK 19: SOUTH AFRICA AMONG THE NATIONS

Day 129 (7 October 2026)

Theme: A Righteous Voice in the Global Community–
As South Africa participates in the global community, we pray that its voice will be governed by truth, wisdom, justice, compassion, and righteousness. Through diplomacy, international forums, multilateral institutions, negotiations, and relationships between nations, may South Africa use the platforms entrusted to it to speak for what is right, defend human dignity, advocate for justice, and contribute to peace. We pray not merely for a louder national voice, but for a trustworthy one; one whose credibility is established through integrity and whose influence is exercised responsibly before God.

Action item 1: Pray for South Africa to Speak with Wisdom, Truth and Righteousness among the Nations.

Proverbs 8:6-8 “Listen, for I will speak of excellent things, and from the opening of my lips will come right things; 7For my mouth will speak truth; wickedness is an abomination to my lips. 8All the words of my mouth are with righteousness; nothing crooked or perverse is in them.

Proverbs 25:11 “A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver. 12Like an earring of gold and an ornament of fine gold is a wise rebuker to an obedient ear.”
James 3:17
“But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.”

  • Father, we repent for where we have aligned our voice with the devil’s vision for South Africa. Touch our mouths with a live coal from Your altar to remove every legal right we have given the devil. Train South Africa’s voice to speak of excellent and righteous things, cutting off all crooked and perverse speech. Uproot all the words spoken in convenience, self-interest, pressure, fear, division, corruption and destruction over South Africa and its international relationships. Align South Africa’s voice with Your wisdom and truth to bring forth everlasting life. May the fruit of our words be pure and produce peace, gentleness, a willingness to yield and mercy, without partiality or hypocrisy. Let our words be pure and fitly spoken, like apples of gold in settings of silver. Equip us with the wisdom to choose life, for death and life are in the power of the tongue, and may South Africa’s voice choose to speak Life. We pray in Jesus’ name.

Action item 2: Pray for South Africa to use its Voice to Defend Justice and Human Dignity.

Proverbs 31:8-9 “Open your mouth for the speechless, in the cause of all who are appointed to die. 9Open your mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.”
Isaiah 1:17
“Learn to do good; seek justice, rebuke the oppressor; defend the fatherless, plead for the widow.”
Psalm 82:3-4
“Defend the poor and fatherless; do justice to the afflicted and needy. 4Deliver the poor and needy; free them from the hand of the wicked.”

  • Father, we repent for not using South Africa’s influence to speak for the vulnerable, oppose injustice and uphold the dignity and value of human life. We pray that South Africa will wisely use her voice to speak for the vulnerable, oppose injustice and uphold the dignity of every human life. Teach us to open our mouths for those who have no voice and to plead the cause of the poor and needy. Give South Africa the courage to judge righteously, seek justice and rebuke the oppressor, even when it is costly. Help us to defend the fatherless and stand up for the widow. Where there is affliction, bring freedom from the hand of the wicked, and let our voice be part of their deliverance. Make South Africa a nation that protects the weak and honours the worth of every person made in Your image.

Action item 3: Pray for South Africa’s Voice to Contribute to Peace and Righteous Relations among Nations.

Matthew 5:9 “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.”
Isaiah 2:4
“He shall judge between the nations, and rebuke many people; they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore.”
Romans 12:18
“If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men.”

  • Father, we repent for the times we have brought division instead of Blessing. Teach us how to become peacemakers, that we may be blessed and be called sons of God. We pray that South Africa will use its diplomatic and international influence to reduce hostility, encourage understanding and pursue peaceful resolution. Strengthen just relationships between nations, so that agreements are honest and fair and no one is  left out or exploited. Father, we ask You to judge between the nations, so that swords are beaten into plowshares and nation no longer lifts up sword against nation.  As much as depends on us, live peaceably with all men. May South Africa’s testimony reflect a nation of peacemakers, ushering in the Blessing, destroying the curse which follows division.
