WEEK 19: SOUTH AFRICA AMONG THE NATIONS

Day 130 (8 October 2026)

Theme: An Instrument of Peace and Reconciliation among the Nations.

As South Africa develops a righteous voice in the global community, we pray that God will use the nation as an instrument of peace and reconciliation where conflict, hostility, injustice, and division have fractured relationships between peoples and nations. South Africa’s own history carries both lessons and unfinished work concerning division, negotiation, justice, forgiveness, and reconciliation. We therefore pray that what has been learned through our journey will be stewarded with humility – not as a claim of superiority, but as a resource for service. May South Africans who are positioned in diplomacy, ministry, humanitarian work, civil society, academia, business, and international institutions become bridge-builders who pursue peace without abandoning truth and reconciliation without neglecting justice.

Action item 1: Pray for South Africa to Carry the Ministry of Reconciliation with Humility and Integrity.

2 Corinthians 5:18-20 “Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, 19that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. 20Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God.”
Matthew 5:9
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.”
Colossians 3:12-15
” Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; 13bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. 14But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. 15And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.”

  • Father God, thank You for Your gift of reconciliation. Having been reconciled back to You, we have now received the ministry of reconciliation. We pray that moving forward South Africa will be a testimony of Your ministry of reconciliation, drawing from our history and the lessons learnt through the decades. May South Africa arise as godly peacemakers so that we may be called sons of God. Clothe us with tender mercy, kindness, humility, meekness and patience. Teach us to bear with one another and to forgive as Christ forgave us, and let love, which binds everything together in perfect unity, rule our nation. Lord, Your word declares Love never fails (1 Corinthians 13:8), so let the peace of God rule in our hearts as Your love brings healing. May South Africa’s testimony be that of Believers walking in love and unity, bringing healing to divided peoples and nations, restoring generational blessings and pointing nations to Christ. Thank You for what You are doing in our beloved country, South Africa. We love You, we bless You, and we honour You. We pray in the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.

Action item 2: Pray for South Africa to Contribute to Just and Lasting Peace in Places of Conflict.

Isaiah 2:4 “He shall judge between the nations, and rebuke many people; they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore.”
James 3:17-18
“But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. 18Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.”
Psalm 34:14
“Depart from evil and do good; Seek peace and pursue it.”

  • Father, may South Africa desire to be peacemakers as Your word declares, “Blessed are the peacemakers” (Matthew 5:9). Grant wisdom and grace to every South African involved in diplomacy, mediation, peacebuilding, humanitarian work and international engagement. Give them wisdom that is pure, peaceable, gentle, yielding and full of mercy, without partiality or hypocrisy, so that they can help interrupt the cycles of violence and establish conditions for just and lasting peace. Help them depart from evil and do good, to seek peace and pursue it. Sow the fruit of righteousness in peace through those who make peace. We pray this in the might name of Jesus. Amen.

Action item 3: Pray for the Church to become a Transnational Force for Reconciliation and Peace.

Ephesians 2:14-18 “For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation, 15having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace, 16and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity. 17And He came and preached peace to you who were afar off and to those who were near. 18For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father.”
John 17:20-23
““I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; 21that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. 22And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: 23I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.”
Romans 12:17-21
“Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men. 18If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men. 19Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. 20Therefore “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; If he is thirsty, give him a drink; For in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head.” 21Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”

  • Father, we pray that Your Church in South Africa would work across borders with the wider Body of Christ to confront division, heal relationships, serve communities affected by conflict and show the reconciling power of the Gospel. Thank You that Jesus Himself is our peace. He broke down the wall of separation and made us one new people in Himself. Father God, answer Jesus’ prayer that we would be one, as He and You are one, so that the world may believe You sent Him. Help us repay no one evil for evil, live at peace with everyone as far as it depends on us, and leave vengeance to You. Teach us to overcome evil with good. In Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
